LaChaney's Dance & Music Academy presents "HOLIDAY REFLECTIONS" 2010
HOLIDAY REFLECTIONS 12.18.10
The Holiday performance tickets are now on sale. The seats are general admission seating, not reserved. The performance venue is not as big as our year end recital, so please don't delay on purchasing your tickets, they tend to sell out quickly. Tickets are $10 in advance, and $17 at the door if available. All tickets can be purchased with CASH ONLY! Each student that will be participating in the holiday show will receive a performer pass the week before the show, they must have this in order to perform. Each class will receive information as to what they need to wear for their performance next week. We will try to keep it very simple, hopefully something they already have in their closets. Please make sure your child has good tights, and the appropriate shoes. I will be making a shoe order on saturday, so if you know your child is missing something or may need to order a larger size please let us know ASAP.

LaChaney's After-School Tutoring Program
Welcome to LaChaney’s After-School Tutoring Program, where your child’s success is our #1 priority. LaChaney’s after-school tutoring program is organized to help students improve their academic skills, and is designed according to their requirements.
Children that struggle in school may not have many opportunities to get one on one help with academics. Some children are hesitant to ask for help while others do not get the help they need even if they ask. This can be because of too many children in a classroom or not enough time for the teacher to review and repeat lessons that a child is having difficulty in.
Our Core Subjects include:
• Math, Reading, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and History
• Standardized Test Preparation include: SAT Prep, ACT Prep, AP Tests, & State Tests.
• We also offer private coaching in: Study Skills, Homework Help, Computer Skills, and Musical/Choral Lessons.
• Tutoring sessions are available in both one-on-one as well as small group formats.
• We offer straight-forward pricing. You set the pace, and you simply pay base on the package you choose. No contracts required. We also offer sibling discounts.
The success of the program lies in its technique. At LaChaney’s, children are able to fully grasp one concept at a time, at their own pace, before advancing to the next, ensuring that they completely understand each level and subject. Our program builds confidence, self-esteem and increases a child’s desire to learn.
In today's age, when both parents are working, it has become difficult for them to keep a check on the daily activities of their children. Children are prone to high risk-behavior like bad company, drugs, sexual and criminal activities, etc. To avoid such undesirable behavior, it is extremely important that children spend their time after school doing constructive work. Here at LaChaney’s we offer a wide variety of programs such as tutorial services, dance, music, karate, & gymnastics. Let LaChaney’s help mold your child into a successful individual!
For more information please call: 908-688-3877 to reserve your spot in one of our programs today.

Group exercise ‘boosts happiness’
Exercising together appears to increase the level of the feel-good endorphin hormones naturally released during physical exertion, a study suggests.
It has long been known that physical exertion releases endorphins and that these are responsible for the sometimes euphoric sensations experienced after exercising. But researchers from Oxford University's Institute of Cognitive and Evolutionary Anthropology found this response was heightened by the synergistic effect of exercising together.
The team carried out tests on 12 rowers after a vigorous workout in a virtual boat. Those who trained alone withstood less pain - a key measure of endorphins - than those who exercised together.
As well as potentially improving performance in sport, the researchers speculated that this endorphin release may be the mechanism that underpins the sense of communal belonging that emerges from activities such as religious rituals, dancing or laughing.
Lead author Emma Cohen said: ‘The exact features of group activity that generate this effect are unknown, but this study contributes to a growing body of evidence suggesting that synchronised, coordinated physical activity may be responsible.’
Carole Seheult, a sport and exercise psychologist from the British Psychological Society, said the findings were entirely credible.
‘We know from experience that exercising in groups is good for people at many levels, it's motivational, it's social. Groups sessions really do work.’
